Maruti Suzuki has officially launched its first all-electric SUV, the e-Vitara, in India today, December 2, 2025. The launch marks Maruti Suzuki's entry into the mass EV market in India. The e-Vitara, which was unveiled in Gurugram, will be available in both front-wheel-drive (FWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations.
Price: While the official on-road prices are yet to be revealed, the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara is expected to be priced between ₹20.00 - ₹25.00 Lakh. Some sources suggest the price could range from ₹17 Lakh to ₹26 Lakh. Sales are expected to commence in January 2026, coinciding with the SUV's launch in Japan.
Variants, Battery and Performance: The e-Vitara will come with two LFP battery pack options sourced from BYD: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The 49 kWh version, available only with 2WD, delivers 142 bhp and 189 Nm of torque. The 61 kWh variant offers 172 bhp in 2WD form, while the AWD configuration generates 300 Nm of torque. The model with the larger 61 kWh battery pack is expected to deliver a claimed range of up to 543 km on a single charge. The 49 kWh battery pack is expected to offer a range of around 344 km. The e-Vitara will be available in three variants: Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. The Delta variant comes with the 49 kWh battery pack, while the Zeta and Alpha variants feature the 61 kWh unit. The AWD trim is expected to feature different driving modes, including Eco, Normal, Sports, and Snow. The e-Vitara will be the first EV in India to feature an electric four-wheel drive with ALLGRIP-e. This system uses independent electric motors on both front and rear axles to distribute power through all four wheels.
Features: The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara is equipped with a host of advanced features. The interior boasts a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, ventilated front seats, a 10-way powered driver seat, and a 40:20:40 split second row with sliding and reclining functions. Other interior highlights include a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, soft-touch materials, wireless connectivity, and an Infinity-tuned audio system. It also features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The vehicle is equipped with Level 2 ADAS, seven airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, and an electronic parking brake with brake hold function. Additional safety features include a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a 360-degree camera, and an emergency SOS button.
Colors: The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara will be offered in 10 color options, including both monotone and dual-tone choices. The monotone options include Nexa Blue, Splendid Silver, Arctic White, Grandeur Grey, Bluish Black, Opulent Red, and Land Breeze Green. The dual-tone options include Arctic White with a Bluish Black roof, Splendid Silver with a Bluish Black roof, Opulent Red with a Bluish Black roof, and Land Breeze Green with a Bluish Black roof.
Design:
The e-Vitara's design is inspired by the EVX concept, featuring sharp headlamps, Y-shaped DRLs, and prominent cladding on the wheel arches and bumpers. It has a connected tail-lamp setup. The SUV measures 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,640 mm in height, and has a 5.2-metre turning radius.
The launch of the e-Vitara is a significant step for Maruti Suzuki as it enters the electric vehicle market. The e-Vitara is expected to compete with models like the Hyundai Creta EV, MG ZS EV, and Tata Curvv EV. Bookings for the e-Vitara are expected to open soon.
