The Oppo Pad 5 is potentially nearing its launch in India, as suggested by its recent certification by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The listing, which was spotted by tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore, reveals model numbers OPD2503 and OPD2502. The OPD2503 was certified on November 13, and OPD2502 on November 11.
The BIS is the official body in India responsible for ensuring the quality and standardization of products before they are released to the market. Thus, the Oppo Pad 5 appearing on the BIS database indicates that its launch in India is likely imminent.
If launched, the Oppo Pad 5 could be Oppo's first performance-focused Android tablet in India. So far, Oppo has released only budget-friendly tablets in India, such as the Oppo Pad SE. The Oppo Pad 5 is already available in China, so it is anticipated the Indian version will share similar specifications. These expected specifications include a 12.1-inch 3K LCD display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ processor. It is also expected to run on Android 16-based ColorOS 16.
The BIS listing also indicates that the Oppo Pad 5 will be manufactured locally in Uttar Pradesh, India, by Bhagwati Products Limited.
The launch of the Oppo Pad 5 could represent Oppo's entry into the premium tablet segment in India.
