NIA Court Orders 7-Day Custody Extension for Gangster Anmol Bishnoi in Ongoing Investigation.

A Delhi court has extended the National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody of Anmol Bishnoi, brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, by seven days, until December 5, 2025. The order was issued by Special Judge Prashant Sharma of Patiala House Court.

The hearing was conducted at the NIA headquarters due to serious security concerns. Anmol Bishnoi's counsel, Advocate Rajani, had filed a plea citing threats to his life and seeking increased security. Bishnoi claimed that social media accounts were posting threats against him, necessitating protection. The court agreed to hold the remand proceedings at the agency office.

NIA prosecutors had requested a 10-day extension of custody, arguing that more time was needed to investigate leads related to a broader terror conspiracy. Bishnoi's defense opposed the extension, asserting that all evidence had already been presented and no further interrogation or recoveries were necessary. The judge, after considering the arguments, granted a seven-day extension.

The court directed the NIA to ensure Anmol received legal assistance and was clearly informed of the reasons for his arrest. The judge noted that Anmol had already met with his counsel, undergone a medical examination at Indira Gandhi International Airport, and had sufficient time to review the grounds for his arrest.

Anmol Bishnoi had previously been remanded to 11 days of NIA custody on November 19, 2025, following his deportation from the United States. He had been absconding from India since 2022. The NIA has accused him of collaborating with Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operatives and members of an organized crime syndicate to raise funds and recruit youth for terror activities in Delhi and other parts of the country. The agency alleges the network planned targeted killings to spread fear and advance the objectives of the BKI.

The NIA stated that Anmol Bishnoi was declared a proclaimed offender on January 17, 2025, and remains a key figure in the ongoing investigation. He is the 19th accused to be apprehended in connection with the terror syndicate led by his brother, Lawrence Bishnoi. The NIA formally charged him in March 2023, alleging he actively assisted designated terrorist Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi in carrying out terrorist acts across India between 2020 and 2023.

Despite residing in the US, Anmol allegedly maintained close contact with the Bishnoi gang, orchestrating terrorist operations and leading terror syndicates from overseas. He is wanted in connection with several high-profile cases, including the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, the firing outside actor Salman Khan's residence in April 2024, and the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.

The NIA believes Anmol was using a fake passport under the name Bhanu to travel. A Red Corner Notice was issued against him on December 6, 2022. The NIA had named Anmol as an accused in two cases and announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh.
