Bitnomial Approved by CFTC: Launching Innovative Prediction Markets Platform in the United States

Bitnomial Inc., a U.S. derivatives exchange company, has received the green light from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to launch prediction markets. The CFTC approval enables Bitnomial Clearinghouse LLC, the company's clearinghouse unit, to clear fully-collateralized swaps, paving the way for the derivatives exchange company to offer prediction markets.

With this approval, Bitnomial stands out as the only full-service U.S. exchange and clearinghouse offering perpetuals, futures, options, leveraged spot trading, and now prediction markets under one regulatory framework and unified liquidity pool. Bitnomial operates as both an exchange and clearinghouse. The company will focus its prediction market offerings on crypto and economic events.

The new platform will allow participants to trade on the outcomes of events, including token price movements and macroeconomic indicators. Bitnomial Exchange's prediction market will complement its existing Bitcoin Complex and Crypto Complex product lines. The integration across Bitnomial’s product suite will enable traders to more specifically offset risk.

Michael Dunn, President of Bitnomial Exchange and Clearinghouse, stated that prediction markets represent the next frontier for regulated derivatives, and no other U.S. venue offers this combination of products with unified trading, clearing, and margin. The clearinghouse will serve both Bitnomial’s own exchange and external partners. Partners will have access to margin capabilities across USD and cryptocurrency, subject to their own regulatory approvals.

As the only U.S. clearinghouse with crypto margin collateral and settlement capabilities, Bitnomial enables participants to post and settle in digital assets in approved products and assets. Bitnomial Clearinghouse focuses on infrastructure rather than competing with partners on retail offerings, positioning itself as a neutral clearing provider.

Bitnomial is regulated by the US CFTC as a Designated Contract Market (DCM), a Derivative Clearing Organization (DCO), and a Futures Commission Merchant (FCM). Bitnomial is open to residents of the United States and around the world.

This move aligns with the CFTC's Crypto Sprint initiative supporting America's digital asset leadership goals. Bitnomial built the first and only crypto-native spot and derivatives exchange and clearinghouse in the U.S.. That infrastructure includes crypto settlement, crypto margin collateral, perpetual futures, and most recently leveraged retail spot trading.
