Unnao, Uttar Pradesh: In a tragic incident in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, a head-on collision between a truck and an auto-rickshaw has resulted in the deaths of three people and injuries to five others. The accident occurred on Saturday morning near an Indian Oil petrol pump in Makur village, situated on the Ajgain-Mohan road.

According to police reports, the collision was so severe that the auto-rickshaw was completely destroyed, trapping the occupants inside. Upon receiving news of the incident, a police team immediately arrived at the scene and, with the help of local residents, began rescue operations. The injured were extricated from the wreckage and rushed to a nearby hospital. Sadly, three individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are currently working to identify the deceased and make contact with their families. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations.

Following the accident, the truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. Police have launched a search operation to apprehend the driver.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident was caused by speeding and reckless driving. A more detailed investigation is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to the collision.

This incident adds to a series of recent road accidents in Uttar Pradesh. On December 11, 2025, a truck driver was killed in a collision on the Ayodhya-Prayagraj highway in Amethi. In another incident on August 25, 2025, eight people were killed and 43 injured when a truck rammed into a tractor-trolley carrying pilgrims in Bulandshahr.
