Amidst a charged political atmosphere, the Congress party held a significant rally in Delhi on December 14, 2025, protesting against alleged "vote chori" and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge addressed the massive gathering, asserting the critical need to "save 140 crore people" and accusing the BJP of being "gaddar" (traitors) and "dramebaaz" (drama artists) who must be removed from power.
Kharge emphasized the importance of national responsibility, stating that he chose to attend the rally instead of going to Bengaluru for his son's operation. He declared that saving the country was a greater priority. He further added that only the Congress ideology can protect the Constitution from being destroyed by the BJP's agenda. He urged all Indians to unite and strengthen the Congress ideology, which he described as essential for safeguarding democracy and the Constitution. Kharge also warned that the RSS ideology would "finish the nation" if allowed to prevail.
Rahul Gandhi, also addressing the rally, launched a sharp attack on the BJP and the RSS. He accused the ruling party of misusing its authority and manipulating elections to favor the BJP. He declared that he would stand with "satya" (truth) and work to remove the Narendra Modi-led government from power.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in her address, accused the BJP-led government of systematically weakening democratic institutions and undermining the electoral process. She alleged that elections were not being conducted properly and raised concerns about the integrity of the electoral process. She challenged the BJP to contest polls using ballot papers. She added that when every institution in the country is being crushed, it becomes the responsibility of all Indians to rise against it.
Several other Congress leaders echoed these sentiments, alleging institutional bias and accusing the BJP and the Election Commission of colluding to rig elections. Karnataka Congress MLC Saleem Ahmed claimed that BJP victories in Maharashtra, Bihar, and Haryana did not reflect the people's mandate.
The BJP has responded to these allegations by accusing the Congress of politicizing the issue of alleged vote theft and attempting to protect illegal infiltrators. BJP leader Tarun Chugh criticized Rahul Gandhi, while BJP MP Sambit Patra alleged that the Congress rally was aimed at protecting infiltrators.
The Congress party described the rally as a decisive step in their political battle against the BJP-led government. The rally saw participation from party workers and leaders from various states, demonstrating their commitment to saving the Congress party and protecting citizens' right to vote.
