Delhi, India – A 48-year-old woman was fatally stabbed inside a temple in the Mansarovar Park area of East Delhi on Sunday, December 14, 2025. The incident, which occurred around noon within a temple located in the DDA Flats complex, has sparked widespread concern and prompted a swift response from law enforcement.
According to police reports, they received a call reporting the incident around 12 PM. Initial reports indicated that two individuals stabbed a woman priest in the head. The victim, identified as Kusum Sharma, a resident of Mansarovar Park, suffered multiple stab wounds to her head and upper body. She was immediately transported to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam stated that preliminary investigations suggest an unidentified man, possibly with an accomplice, repeatedly attacked Sharma with a knife, causing fatal injuries. While the motive is still under investigation, initial assessments point towards a possible old enmity.
In the wake of the crime, police have formed multiple teams to investigate the case and apprehend the culprits. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the DDA Flats, nearby streets, parks, and entry/exit points in an effort to track the movements of the attacker before and after the crime. Technical surveillance and local intelligence are also being utilized to establish the identity of the assailant.
Later in the day, police reported the arrest of a woman in connection with the stabbing. Authorities also recovered the weapon used in the attack.
The broad daylight murder inside the temple has triggered panic among the locals in Delhi's Shahdara area. Initial reports indicate the attack occurred around 11:30 am while the victim was inside the temple with 3-4 other people. One report indicates that the victim was the temple priest's wife. Another woman who attempted to intervene during the attack sustained injuries and was rushed for medical treatment.
