Kota, Rajasthan – In a remarkable display of quick thinking and decisive action, a Jaipur-based businessman's life was saved after he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest at a jewellery shop in Kota on Thursday, December 11, 2025. Rajkumar Soni, 60, a gemstone trader, was browsing jewellery at Vardhman Jewellers in Rampura Bazaar when the incident occurred around 1:58 pm.
According to reports, Soni was engaged in a business discussion when he suddenly grew breathless, slumped forward, and collapsed unconscious onto the floor. The alarming scene was captured on CCTV, showing panicked staff and onlookers rushing to his aid.
Amidst the chaos, Varun Jain, 37, the son of the shop owner Vimal Kumar Jain, stepped up to take control of the situation. Without any formal CPR training beyond basic community program awareness, Varun swiftly began administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). For approximately 2.5 minutes, he performed chest compressions and also administered an emergency injection.
Varun's relentless efforts paid off as Rajkumar regained consciousness, gasping for air. Soni later recalled experiencing chest pain before losing consciousness. Vimal Jain, the shop owner, noted that there were no prior warning signs during their conversation.
Following the CPR, Rajkumar was quickly stabilized at the shop before being transferred to a hospital for further treatment. Doctors have since confirmed that his condition is stable.
The dramatic CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral, drawing widespread attention and praise for Varun's heroic actions. Many are hailing his presence of mind and timely intervention.
Varun credited basic community workshops for equipping him with the knowledge to perform CPR, emphasizing its importance in the critical "golden minutes" following a cardiac arrest. His father, Vimal Jain, lauded his son's instincts, noting that while other employees froze, Varun took charge.
This incident serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of CPR training and awareness. Experts say that such knowledge can be crucial in saving lives during cardiac emergencies. The video has sparked discussions about the need for widespread CPR training programs across India.
