Dominic Calvert-Lewin shines, Leeds United rediscover form and comfortably defeat Crystal Palace in impressive display.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is currently in sensational form, as evidenced by Leeds United's resounding 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Elland Road. The win on Saturday, December 20, 2025, propelled Leeds six points clear of the Premier League relegation zone.

Calvert-Lewin's brace put the Whites ahead 2-0 at halftime. Ethan Ampadu's first league goal for the club in the second half essentially sealed the victory for Daniel Farke's team, giving their chances of survival a significant boost. Crystal Palace substitute Justin Devenny scored a penalty in stoppage time, but it was too late for Oliver Glasner's side, and Anton Stach's free-kick sealed the victory for the home side.

Calvert-Lewin, a free summer signing, has now scored in five consecutive Premier League games for the first time since October 2020 and has recorded his first top-flight double since November of the same year. The former Everton striker has six goals in his last five league games and seven for the season as Leeds goes undefeated in four games.

Leeds took the lead in the 38th minute thanks to a long throw-in from Ampadu that was flicked on by Chris Richards, allowing Calvert-Lewin to beat Dean Henderson from close range. Just before halftime, another long throw-in from Ampadu was flicked on by Jaka Bijol, allowing the in-form striker Calvert-Lewin to nod home. In the 60th minute, Ampadu scored his first Premier League goal, extending Leeds' lead after Palace failed to react to a second ball in the box.

Glasner made significant changes to his starting lineup, 48 hours after their 2-2 home draw against KuPS in the UEFA Conference League. Brenden Aaronson replaced Ao Tanaka in the only change made by the hosts. After an early collision of heads between Calvert-Lewin and England defender Marc Guehi, there was widespread relief when both were able to continue. Joe Rodon's shot was deflected wide early on, and he headed the subsequent corner narrowly off target. Former Leeds loanee Eddie Nketiah created Palace's first opportunity, but his shot was straight at Lucas Perri, the home goalkeeper.

Pascal Struijk twice headed wide from corners as the West Yorkshire team took control. After Palace wing-back Tyrick Mitchell's clumsy challenge on Aaronson, the home fans were furious when referee Thomas Bramall and VAR showed no interest.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the first Leeds player to score in five straight Premier League games since Mark Viduka in August 2003. Calvert-Lewin has joined Rod Wallace, Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink, and Mark Viduka as the fourth Leeds player to score in five consecutive Premier League games.
