Vijay Ganguly Shares Aditya Dhar's Reason for Not Choosing Tamannaah Bhatia for Shararat Song.

In a recent revelation, choreographer Vijay Ganguly disclosed that director Aditya Dhar initially rejected the idea of casting Tamannaah Bhatia for the item song "Shararat" in the film Dhurandhar. The song, which features Ayesha Khan and Krystle D'Souza, has become popular for its catchy tune and energetic dance steps.

Ganguly, known for his choreography in Dhurandhar, shared that he had suggested Bhatia for the song. However, Dhar was very clear about not wanting what he referred to as an "item song" that would detract from the film's storyline. According to Ganguly, Dhar didn't want the focus to shift from the story to a single performer. He felt that casting Bhatia, who has become synonymous with iconic dance numbers such as "Aaj Ki Raat" from Stree 2, would make the song about her rather than the narrative.

Ganguly explained that Dhar wanted to avoid diverting attention from the crucial wedding reception scene of Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun, where a lot was happening beyond the dance sequence. Dhar wanted to maintain focus on the narrative, even for a brief moment, treating "Shararat" as just a cut-to song. By casting two relatively lesser-known actresses, Ayesha Khan and Krystle D'Souza, Dhar ensured that the attention remained on the song and the overall film rather than a specific star.

Dhurandhar continues to trend online for its storyline, performances, and music. The film has been praised for the performances of Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, and Rakesh Bedi. The recently released teaser for Rahu Ketu, starring Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma, is already creating massive buzz across social media and is set to hit theaters on January 16, 2026. In other news, exhibitors have decided to reduce the show count of Avatar: Fire and Ash on Christmas Day to accommodate the Kartik Aaryan rom-com at their properties.

The choreographer, Vijay Ganguly had previously choreographed the hit track "Aaj Ki Raat" from Stree 2. He mentioned that there were many options and auditions considered for the two girls. Vijay stated that there was a lot going on in the film, and if you go away from the story, then the song is just a cut-to song.

Ultimately, Dhar's casting decision seems to have worked in his favor, with both the song and its leading ladies receiving positive feedback online.
