On Christmas Day, Prabhas shared a photo from the sets of "Spirit" to wish director Sandeep Reddy Vanga a happy 44th birthday, generating buzz around their upcoming film. The actor expressed his excitement for the project, writing, "Happy birthday bro... Can't wait for everyone to witness what you're creating". This message has amplified the anticipation for "Spirit," hinting at Prabhas's confidence in the film's vision and progress.
"Spirit" marks the first collaboration between Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the director known for his work on "Arjun Reddy," "Kabir Singh," and the recent blockbuster "Animal". The film is a cop action drama where Prabhas is expected to play a powerful and rogue police officer. Earlier in the year, on Prabhas's birthday, Vanga released a special audio teaser, offering a glimpse into the film's world. The teaser suggested that Prabhas's character has a bad habit that his senior officer, played by Prakash Raj, cannot tolerate.
The regular shoot for "Spirit" has recently commenced, with Vanga keen on completing production at a brisk pace for an early release. A pooja ceremony was held in Hyderabad, graced by Megastar Chiranjeevi.
Reportedly, Prabhas will be seen in three different looks in "Spirit". It has been revealed that he will portray a police officer and a prisoner. A look-test photoshoot for his second look is scheduled for December 27, with actress Tripti Dimri, the female lead, joining him.
Tripti Dimri joined the cast after Deepika Padukone's exit due to disagreements over contractual demands. The film also features Prakash Raj and Vivek Oberoi in key roles. There have been reports that Korean actor Don Lee might also be part of the film in a negative role, though there is no official confirmation yet.
Vanga had revealed that he turned down offers to remake Hollywood films, preferring to create an original story tailored for Prabhas. He wanted a fresh idea specifically for Prabhas, feeling that a Hollywood remake wouldn't work.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga is reportedly not planning a New Year break to speed up the film's production, aiming for a mid-2026 release. Harshavardhan Rameshwar is composing the music for the film.
