Following the death of veteran actor Dharmendra on November 24, 2025, his son, Sunny Deol, is expected to address the media for the first time at a special screening of Dharmendra's final film, Ikkis. The screening, hosted by Sunny and his brother Bobby Deol, will be held in Mumbai in the coming week as a tribute to their father’s legacy.

Ikkis, a war biopic co-starring Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia, is set to release in theaters on January 1, 2026. The film features Dharmendra in a significant role, marking his last appearance on the big screen. According to reports, Dharmendra plays the role of Agastya's father in Ikkis, though they share few scenes together due to the film's parallel timelines.

Sriram Raghavan, the film's director, shared that Dharmendra had the opportunity to watch the first half of Ikkis in October before his health declined. He expressed regret that the veteran actor could not see the completed film and witness the audience's appreciation.

The Deol family has been actively supporting Ikkis, encouraging fans to watch the film in theaters. Producer Dinesh Vijan mentioned that the family, including Dharmendra's wives Prakash Kaur and Hema Malini, and his children, have not yet viewed the film, anticipating it will be an emotional experience.

Sunny Deol's recent appearance at the teaser launch of Border 2 on December 16, 2025, was an emotional one, as it marked his first public appearance after his father's death. During the event, Sunny Deol was seen fighting back tears. He also shared a heartfelt tribute to his father on what would have been Dharmendra's 90th birthday, posting a video with the caption, "Today is my father's birthday. Papa is always with me, inside me. Love you, Papa. Miss you".

Notably, following his father's death, Sunny Deol was filmed confronting photographers during the immersion of Dharmendra's ashes. He had previously criticized the media for their intrusive coverage of his father's illness, emphasizing the family's need for privacy.

Border 2, starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, is scheduled for release on January 23, 2026, ahead of Republic Day weekend. The film's teaser was launched on Vijay Diwas, commemorating India's victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, which serves as the backdrop for the film. Border 2 features Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, Medha Rana, and Paramvir Singh Cheema in supporting roles and is directed by Anurag Singh. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta.
