Amit Shah's Bengal Poll Pitch: Corruption Fatigue Fuels Hope for Change on Mamata Banerjee's Turf.

Rallying supporters in Bengal, Amit Shah has declared that the people of the state are tired of corruption, aiming his message directly at Mamata Banerjee's stronghold. Shah's address served as a battle cry for upcoming elections, focusing on alleged misgovernance and appeasement politics.

Shah didn't hold back in his criticism of Mamata Banerjee, challenging her to suspend Trinamool leaders implicated in various scams, including Partha Chatterjee, Anubrata Mondal, and Jyotipriya Mallick. He suggested Banerjee's prayers to the Hindu goddess Durga were motivated by a desire to protect her nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, from being implicated in these scandals. Shah also mentioned the deaths of 212 BJP workers, holding Trinamool responsible.

Accusing the Trinamool Congress of shaming not only West Bengal but the entire nation through corruption, Shah highlighted issues such as political violence and illegal infiltration during the Trinamool Congress's governance. He also attacked the Congress party for what he sees as their surrender to the Trinamool Congress. Shah also accused the state government of encouraging illegal infiltration to bolster its vote bank, a stark contrast to Mamata Banerjee's earlier stance against it.

Shah also addressed the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), stating that it would be implemented regardless of the Chief Minister's opposition. He accused the Congress and Mamata Banerjee of opposing the CAA to support infiltrators, arguing that the law would provide citizenship to Hindu refugees.

Referring to incidents in Sandeshkhali, where allegations of sexual abuse against TMC leaders have surfaced, Shah accused Mamata Banerjee of trying to shield the accused. He alleged that she was protecting criminals for votes through appeasement.

Shah has urged the Bengal BJP unit to unite against the TMC, expose corruption, and strengthen the party at the grassroots level. He set a target for the party to win at least 35 of the 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state. Shah asserted that Bengal has received four times the funds from the central government under the BJP compared to when Trinamool was part of the UPA. He also declared that if the BJP wants to uproot the TMC in 2026, Narendra Modi must be re-elected in 2024.
