Cole Sillinger and Charlie Coyle each chipped in with two assists. Jake Sanderson scored the lone goal for Ottawa, and Leevi Merilainen stopped 18 shots in the Senators' net.

Jenner opened the scoring at 15:58 of the first period, redirecting a shot from Sillinger. Early in the second period, Severson extended the lead with a shot from the top of the faceoff circle. However, the Blue Jackets regained control in the third period, with goals from Mateychuk and Marchenko sealing the victory.

The Senators were without their number one goalie, Linus Ullmark, who is on a leave of absence due to personal reasons. The Senators struggled on the power play, failing to convert on four opportunities with just four shots on goal.
