The production team behind the highly anticipated "Ramayana" film series is reportedly facing disappointment due to further delays in the production of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Love & War," starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. According to sources, the extended shooting schedule for "Love & War" has led to a reshuffling of Kapoor's commitments, impacting the timeline for "Ramayana: Part 2".
Initially, Kapoor planned to complete both parts of "Ramayana" before dedicating his time to "Love & War". However, with "Love & War" facing unforeseen delays and its shooting schedule now extended to May 2026, Kapoor has had to allocate dates originally intended for "Ramayana: Part 2" to Bhansali's project. This adjustment has sparked concerns within the "Ramayana" team, as it potentially jeopardizes the film's planned release.
"Ramayana," a magnum opus retelling the Hindu mythological epic, is being released in two parts. The first installment is reportedly fully edited and ready. The cast includes Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Laxman.
"Love & War," on the other hand, is an action-romantic drama also featuring Ranbir Kapoor alongside Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. While initial plans aimed for an Eid 2026 release, the extended shooting schedule has made that impossible. Bhansali is now aiming for an August or September 2026 release.
The "Ramayana" team was hoping for at least a six-month gap between the release of "Love & War" and "Ramayana". The current delays could potentially disrupt this plan. "Ramayana: Part 1" is slated for a Diwali 2026 release.
The delay in the "Love & War" shoot has also reportedly led to an increase in the film's budget. Despite the schedule adjustments, anticipation remains high for both "Ramayana" and "Love & War". The official release date for "Love & War," along with the first looks of the actors, are expected to be revealed in January.
