Ayodhya is preparing for grand celebrations to mark the second anniversary of Shri Ram Lalla’s Pran Pratishtha, with festivities scheduled from December 27, 2025, to January 2, 2026. The main ceremonial event will be held on December 31, 2025. This anniversary marks another significant milestone in the historic revival of one of Hinduism's most revered pilgrimage sites.
The Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has announced that special religious rituals, prayers, and cultural programs will be organized at the Ram Janmabhoomi complex to commemorate the anniversary of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony. According to Champat Rai, general secretary of the Trust, this second anniversary will be celebrated as a 'Patotsav' (anniversary festival). The original Pran Pratishtha ceremony took place on Paush Shukla Dwadashi, corresponding to January 22, 2024. Following tradition, the first anniversary was observed on January 11, 2025, and the second will now be celebrated according to the Hindu lunar calendar.
Several prominent figures are expected to participate in the celebrations, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and possibly Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. The celebrations will maintain a spiritual focus, ensuring the sanctity of the temple and the comfort of devotees.
The week-long celebrations will include a variety of religious and cultural programs. Religious observances will commence on December 27, 2025, and continue until January 2, 2026. On December 27, Swami Vishwaprasannateertha of Pejawar Math, along with 108 Vedic scholars from Ayodhya and South India, will organize a Mandal Puja. A 'Palki Yatra' of the idol will also be held. From December 29, a musical recitation of the Ramcharitmanas by the Shri Maa Anandamayi Manas Parivar of Kanpur will take place daily from 8 am to 2 pm until January 2, 2026. Additionally, Jagatguru Ramdineshacharya will present a 'Ram Katha' from 2 to 5 pm starting December 29. Students from Baba Ghasi Das University of Chhattisgarh will perform a 'Ramlila' on December 29 and 30 from 5:30 to 7 pm. Pujas, havans, and associated rituals will continue for two days after the main event on December 31, conducted under the guidance of Jagadguru Madhvacharya Ji.
Authorities have implemented tight security measures, including CCTV surveillance, drones, vehicle checks, and crowd management strategies, as devotees arrive in Ayodhya. Since the consecration, Ayodhya has seen a steady increase in pilgrim traffic, with lakhs of devotees visiting the temple monthly to seek blessings. Temple authorities are coordinating with the local administration to manage crowds, security, and ensure smooth 'darshan' for pilgrims on December 31. Devotees are advised to adhere to official guidelines issued by the Trust and district authorities.
The Trust has also started identifying measures to protect devotees from the extreme heat during the summer season. A 600-meter long and nine-meter wide permanent shed will be constructed to shield devotees from direct sunlight while they wait in queues. Furthermore, an auditorium with a capacity of 500 people, a guest house, and the office of the trust will be built within the complex.
The second anniversary provides an opportunity for devotees to reflect on the spiritual significance of the temple and the values of Lord Ram. The celebrations will remain inclusive and spiritually focused, allowing devotees to participate peacefully. As Ayodhya develops into a major spiritual and cultural center, the second anniversary of the Ram Temple's consecration highlights the temple's enduring significance in India's religious landscape.
