In a significant move against cross-border terrorism, Jammu and Kashmir Police have attached property belonging to a Pakistan-based terror handler in the Poonch district. The action, taken on Thursday, January 1, 2026, targets the financial and logistical support networks that sustain militancy in the region.
The attached property is agricultural land, measuring four marlas and two sarsai, located in Nar village of the Nakka Majhari area within the Mendhar tehsil. The land belongs to Rafiq Nai, also known as Sultan, a resident of the area who is currently operating from Pakistan. Nai is identified as a terror handler and launch commander for banned outfits, including Tahreek-ul-Mujahideen and the Jammu Kashmir Ghaznavi Force.
Authorities have invoked the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in this action. Investigations reveal Nai's active involvement in facilitating the infiltration of militants, smuggling weapons and narcotics, and attempting to revive terrorist activities in the Poonch-Rajouri sector. He has been designated as an individual terrorist and is wanted in connection with multiple criminal cases related to militancy and violence.
The property attachment was carried out by a joint team of Mendhar police and the Revenue Department, following all legal procedures and obtaining prior approval from the competent authority. The market value of the attached land is estimated to be around Rs 10 lakh.
Police have stated that this action is part of a broader strategy to disrupt the financial and logistical networks of terrorist groups. By targeting the assets of terror handlers, authorities aim to cripple their ability to support and coordinate militant activities. The move sends a strong message that those involved in anti-national activities will be held accountable and deprived of resources.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police have reiterated their commitment to act firmly against terrorism and activities that threaten national security. They have assured continued efforts to ensure peace and public safety in the region. This attachment of property is a significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and maintain stability in the Poonch district and the wider region.
