Sunjay Kapur's Sister Rejects Priya's Request for Karisma Divorce Details: A Private Family Matter.

The legal battle surrounding the estate of the late businessman Sunjay Kapur continues to intensify, with new developments unfolding in the Supreme Court. Sunjay Kapur, who passed away in June 2025, was previously married to actress Karisma Kapoor from 2003 to 2016, and later to Priya Sachdev in 2017. The dispute primarily concerns Sunjay Kapur's will, dated March 21, 2025, which reportedly bequeaths his entire property to his third wife, Priya Sachdev Kapur.

Adding another layer to the complex situation, the Supreme Court addressed a plea by Priya Kapur seeking access to the divorce documents from Sunjay and Karisma Kapoor's 2016 divorce. Priya argues that these documents, including the divorce settlement and custody arrangements, are crucial for the ongoing estate litigation, where issues of financial provision, child support, and post-divorce obligations are being contested in the Delhi High Court. Her counsel, Senior Advocate Maninder Singh, asserted that as Sunjay's legal heir, she is directly interested in matters concerning her late husband's estate.

However, Karisma Kapoor's counsel opposed the plea. The Supreme Court Justice A.S. Chandurkar, has requested a response from Karisma Kapoor within two weeks regarding Priya's plea.

Meanwhile, Sunjay Kapur's sister, Mandhira Kapur Smith, has openly criticized Priya Sachdev, accusing her of disrupting Sunjay's marriage with Karisma Kapoor. In a recent interview with Vickey Lalwani, Mandhira claimed that Priya pursued Sunjay while he was still trying to reconcile with Karisma. She questioned Priya's intentions, especially considering Karisma had just given birth to their second child, Kiaan. Mandhira stated that Priya's actions were in "bad taste" and that Karisma "did not deserve that".

Mandhira also revealed that the Kapur family, particularly her father Surinder Kapur, had been against Sunjay's relationship with Priya. She alleged that Priya was constantly messaging Sunjay while he was with Karisma, further fueling the marital discord.

Adding to the family drama, Karisma and Sunjay's children, Samaira and Kiaan, have challenged the authenticity of Sunjay's will, alleging that it was forged by Priya Kapur to exclude them from their father's estate. They have filed a suit in the Delhi High Court seeking a share in their father's assets. The Delhi High Court has questioned Priya and the will's executor for objecting to a forensic examination of the contested will.

The divorce between Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur was finalized in 2016 after a contentious legal battle. Karisma had accused Sunjay of domestic violence and failing to meet financial commitments. Sunjay, in turn, claimed that Karisma married him for his money and that she was not a good mother. Karisma was granted custody of their children, with Sunjay allowed visitation rights.

The legal disputes surrounding Sunjay Kapur's estate and the ongoing accusations continue to fuel the family feud, with the Supreme Court now involved in the matter of accessing the divorce records.
