Nagpur, India – In a thrilling start to the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, Team India achieved a record-extending 44th 200-plus score in Men's T20I cricket. The Men in Blue accomplished this feat at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on Wednesday. India posted a formidable 238/7 in their 20 overs.
The innings was powered by a blistering knock from opener Abhishek Sharma and valuable contributions from Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh, and captain Suryakumar Yadav.
Abhishek Sharma's explosive innings saw him register the highest-ever score by an Indian in T20I cricket. The 24-year-old opener scored a remarkable 135 runs off just 54 deliveries. Sharma's innings included 7 fours and 13 sixes. Previously, the highest score by an Indian in T20Is was held by Shubman Gill, who scored 126* off 63 balls against New Zealand in 2023.
Suryakumar Yadav also marked a personal milestone, becoming the fourth player to represent India in 100 T20Is.
This achievement further solidifies India's dominance in T20I cricket, showcasing their batting prowess and ability to consistently post high scores.
