Sunny Deol's Border 2 Faces Early Hurdles: Morning Shows Scrapped Due to Delayed Cinema Delivery.

Several morning shows for the highly anticipated Sunny Deol film, Border 2, have been cancelled across India due to delays in the delivery of the film's content to cinemas. The release of the film, a sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Border, has been highly awaited, but distributors and cinema owners are facing last-minute hurdles.

Reports indicate that digital delivery platforms, including UFO Moviez, have alerted distributors and exhibitors about potential delays in the film's download process. This has led to widespread confusion and uncertainty regarding the status of the morning shows scheduled for January 23, 2026. A senior trade person, speaking anonymously, stated that getting content in time for the morning shows appeared "very difficult".

UFO Moviez informed cinemas that the download of Border 2 was tentatively scheduled to begin at 6:30 a.m. on January 23, 2026. Given the film's lengthy runtime of 3 hours and 20 minutes, the download process was expected to take approximately four hours. Despite the setbacks, a trade source has expressed confidence that exhibitors will be able to start shows by 10 a.m..

The delay has left distributors and cinema owners in a precarious position, as they grapple with the logistical challenges of ensuring the film is available for screening. Moviegoers who had booked tickets for the early morning shows are likely to face disruptions, and some may witness "bawal," or fighting, with cinema staff.

Border 2, like its predecessor, is set against the backdrop of the 1971 India-Pakistan War. The film stars Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan.
