The 2026 Grammy Awards will proceed without a performance from global pop icon Taylor Swift, despite widespread rumors suggesting otherwise. Ben Winston, the executive producer of the Grammy Awards, has firmly refuted these rumors, labeling them as completely fabricated.
Winston addressed the speculation, which originated from a "HITS List" published by HITS Daily Double, stating that the report was entirely made up by the publication. He expressed his frustration with the situation, noting the irony of having to address rumors that started within the very outlet that was now questioning him about it.
Adding to the disappointment for fans, Swift is also not nominated for any awards at the 2026 Grammys. Her latest album, "The Life of a Showgirl," was released on October 3, 2025, which falls outside the eligibility period for the 2026 Grammys. The eligibility period includes music released between August 31, 2024, and August 30, 2025. This ineligibility has further reduced the likelihood of Swift's presence at the event.
While Swift's fans will be disappointed by her absence, the Grammys will still feature a star-studded lineup, including singer-songwriter Sabrina Carpenter. Carpenter, who is nominated for six Grammy Awards this year, including Album of the Year for "Man's Best Friend", is confirmed to perform at the ceremony. Winston praised Carpenter's performance at the 2025 broadcast, noting her pivotal role in uplifting the mood after coverage of the Los Angeles wildfires.
Winston revealed a strategy of announcing new performers each day leading up to the show, similar to a Christmas advent calendar, to build excitement. He also indicated that Carpenter's performance last year was a turning point for the show.
Adding another layer to Swift's absence, some reports suggest that she is currently focusing on wedding preparations with her fiancé, Travis Kelce. The couple announced their engagement last year and are reportedly planning to tie the knot this summer.
Despite Swift's absence from the nominations and the performance lineup, there remains a possibility that she could attend the Grammys. However, Winston has made it clear that there are no confirmed plans for her to do so. Fans eager to see Swift at the Grammys will have to wait until the 2027 ceremony, where her recent work will be eligible for consideration.
