Paris Hilton: Shared Trauma with Britney Spears in the 2000s Strengthened Their Friendship and Connection.

Paris Hilton has recently spoken about the bond she shares with Britney Spears, emphasizing how their "shared trauma" from the 2000s has deepened their connection. Hilton, 44, revealed that she and Spears, who have been friends for many years, recently met in Mexico to celebrate Spears' birthday. During their get-together, they discussed the harsh realities of living in the spotlight during that era.

In an appearance on the "I've Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario" podcast on January 29, 2026, Hilton discussed the "shared trauma" that she and other female celebrities faced in the early 2000s. When asked if she had spoken to Spears about their shared experiences, Hilton confirmed that they had, reflecting on how "cruel and mean-spirited" people were back then. She expressed that Spears is one of the few people who can truly relate to the challenges and pressures they faced, stating, "It has made us both so strong".

Hilton described the media climate of the 2000s as "cruel" and "extremely painful and traumatic," particularly for young women in the public eye. She felt constantly "publicly humiliated" and found it isolating, as it seemed that "it was entertainment to tear down women". She noted that the constant media scrutiny affected her confidence and emphasized the importance of understanding and empathy. Hilton stated that the way she and other young women were treated back then "would not be accepted today". She felt that "this type of abuse was entertainment for people back then".

Talking about that time with Spears has been a "healing" experience for both of them, as they find solace in understanding each other's experiences. Hilton explained, "this is not something that many people have been through". They discussed being constantly followed and stalked, and having stories invented about them.

Looking back, Hilton offered advice to her younger self: "Paris, you're going to go through a lot in life and sometimes it's going to be so difficult and scary and hard, but one day it's going to be worth it". She believes that her experiences have allowed her to "inspire millions of people," "create a blueprint," and "turn your pain into your purpose," helping to save the lives of children, women, and survivors around the world. She also expressed a desire to have shown the world the real her sooner and feels that if she could survive the 2000s, she "can survive anything".

Currently, Hilton is promoting her documentary, "Infinite Icon: A Visual Memoir," which shares a name with her 2024 album. She said that music has always been an escape for her, bringing "so much happiness and joy" and helping her avoid dwelling on "trauma" or "difficult things" she has gone through. Hilton is now focused on her family life with her husband Carter Reum and their two children, Phoenix and London.
