First Glimpse of Sam Mendes' Beatles Saga: Four-Part Biopic Set to Premiere in April 2028

The first glimpses of Sam Mendes' ambitious four-part Beatles biopic have emerged, generating considerable buzz and anticipation. Sony Pictures is behind the project, slated for release on April 7, 2028. What sets this biopic apart is its unique approach: four distinct films, each focusing on a different member of the iconic band – John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr.

The cast includes Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr. Saoirse Ronan will play Linda McCartney, James Norton will portray Brian Epstein, Mia McKenna-Bruce will appear as Maureen Starkey, and Anna Sawai will play Yoko Ono. Aimee Lou Wood is set to play Pattie Boyd, Harry Lloyd will portray George Martin, David Morrissey will play Jim McCartney, and Leanne Best will appear as Mimi Smith. Bobby Schofield will play Neil Aspinall, Daniel Hoffmann-Gill will portray Mal Evans, Arthur Darvill will play Derek Taylor, and Adam Pally will appear as Allen Klein.

Initial glimpses of the cast in their roles have surfaced, offering a taste of the transformation and character work undertaken by the actors. Postcards featuring the actors in character were discovered at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, creating excitement among fans. While some suggest the actors don't appear radically transformed, the efforts of costume and makeup artists to capture the essence of the Beatles' signature looks are evident. Barry Keoghan, who is playing Ringo Starr, recently revealed his new mop-top hairstyle, reminiscent of Starr's iconic look from the 1960s, at a film screening.

Sam Mendes is directing all four films, promising that while each will focus on a different Beatle's perspective, the stories will intertwine and overlap, revealing new facets of the band's history. The scripts are inspired by Bob Spitz's 2005 biography, "The Beatles: The Biography". Production commenced in November 2025, with the ambitious plan to film all four movies back-to-back.

Sony's strategic decision to release all four biopics in April 2028 is an unprecedented move. Tom Rothman, chairman of Sony Pictures, expressed his hope that this concentrated release will create a significant cultural and cinematic event, dominating the month and captivating audiences for weeks.
