The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is pushing for micro DNA testing to address the ongoing controversy surrounding the alleged adulteration of ghee used in the preparation of the famous Tirupati laddoos. This move comes amidst claims of a "moral victory" by the opposition YSRCP, following the Special Investigation Team's (SIT) chargesheet that reportedly did not find evidence of animal lard.

TTD Chairman B. R. Naidu has been vocal in his criticism, accusing the YSRCP of politicizing the issue and misleading devotees. He insists that micro-DNA testing is essential to uncover the complete truth regarding the alleged adulteration. Naidu has also urged the SIT to conduct a thorough investigation into alleged multi-crore bank transactions and identify benami accounts to expose the real beneficiaries behind the alleged scam.

Naidu launched a strong attack against the YSRCP, asserting that a "massive ghee adulteration scam" involving harmful chemicals occurred during the previous YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government. He described the alleged adulteration as an "insult to Hindus". According to Naidu, approximately 60 lakh kilograms of adulterated ghee, valued at around ₹250 crore, were supplied to TTD during the previous administration. He stated that the CBI-led SIT chargesheet filed in the Nellore Anti-Corruption Bureau court exposed the alleged sacrilege and betrayal of devotees.

Naidu alleged that the previous YSRCP regime manipulated ghee procurement tenders, changed eligibility conditions, and awarded contracts to unqualified firms. He claimed that companies lacking cattle and milk production facilities were granted tenders purely for commissions. Naidu further claimed that tests by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) confirmed the presence of animal fat in the ghee supplied during the YSRCP's tenure. He said that approximately 20 crore laddoos were prepared using this allegedly adulterated ghee, posing a serious health risk to devotees. He also warned that certain chemicals found in the adulterated ghee were highly dangerous and underscored that claiming ghee production capabilities without owning even a single cow is outright fraud.

Rejecting claims of a "clean chit" to the previous government, Naidu held the YSRCP leadership and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy directly responsible, accusing them of a systematic plunder of TTD reflecting "deep contempt for Hindu temples and traditions". He demanded an unconditional apology to the Hindu community.

The YSRCP has refuted these allegations, with party leaders claiming a moral victory after the SIT report. They accuse the current government of making baseless allegations for political gain.

The call for micro DNA testing highlights the ongoing dispute and the TTD's commitment to ensuring the purity and sanctity of the Tirupati laddoos. The results of such testing could have significant implications for both the TTD and the involved political parties.
