Amit Shah Slams Mamata: Nepotism Allegations and Corruption Concerns Raised in Heated Political Exchange.

Barrackpore, West Bengal – Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday, accusing her of turning a blind eye to corruption due to her affection for her nephew, Abhishek Banerjee. Speaking at a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organizational meeting in Barrackpore, North 24 Parganas district, Shah asserted that the BJP would come to power in West Bengal and hold corrupt individuals accountable.

Shah alleged that Mamata Banerjee is paving the way for her nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, to become the Chief Minister, leading her to disregard his alleged corrupt activities. "Corruptions have been given an institutional shape by Mamata Banerjee," Shah stated, claiming the corruption amounts to over Rs 1000 crore. He questioned whether Trinamool Congress leaders who have been jailed on corruption charges would receive tickets to contest in the upcoming elections, suggesting they might reveal Abhishek Banerjee's involvement if denied tickets.

He stated that the BJP had a 39% vote share in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and won 77 assembly seats with 38% of the votes in the 2021 assembly polls. Shah expressed confidence that the BJP's vote percentage would surpass 50% in the upcoming elections, leading to the formation of a BJP government with an absolute majority.

Shah raised concerns about the fire at the Anandpur warehouse, attributing it to corruption within the Mamata Banerjee government. He also accused Banerjee of providing shelter to infiltrators and obstructing border security measures for electoral gains. Shah assured that the BJP would secure the border within 45 days if it came to power, addressing the issue of illegal immigration, which he described as a security threat to the entire country. He also accused the state government of not providing land for border fencing to expand their vote bank.

Challenging Mamata Banerjee's commitment to fighting corruption, Shah dared her to deny tickets to those facing corruption allegations. He asserted that Banerjee would be unable to do so because they might expose her nephew. Shah assured that the BJP would investigate every case of corruption and send all corrupt individuals to jail. He also stated that infiltrators would be removed from the voter list and that the BJP would ensure that no one could harm the Matua community.
