Reports are emerging about Shah Rukh Khan's potential role in the highly anticipated Rajinikanth starrer, "Jailer 2," which is slated for release on June 12, 2026. The action-comedy, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is a sequel to the 2022 film "Jailer".
According to the Hindustan Times, Shah Rukh Khan will be playing a character who is a close friend and confidante to Rajinikanth's character. Sources indicate that Rajinikanth's character calls upon Shah Rukh's character in a dire situation. The actors are expected to share screen time, delivering a compelling performance. It is also reported that the last leg of filming is underway in Chennai, though SRK's cameo is yet to be shot. The makers are expected to schedule the shooting of Shah Rukh's part later this month.
Mithun Chakraborty, who is also a part of "Jailer 2," had previously confirmed Shah Rukh Khan's special appearance in the film. In a Bengali interview, Chakraborty stated that "Mohanlal, Shah Rukh Khan, Ramya Krishnan, Shivarajkumar – every big artist features in the film". This statement has fueled speculation and excitement among fans. Chakraborty also said that in Jailer 2, everyone including Rajinikanth, SRK, Ramya Krishnan and Shiva Rajkumar is against him.
"Jailer 2" has a star-studded cast, including Mithun Chakraborty, SJ Suryah, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, and Anna Rajan. There are reports that Vidya Balan will be making her Tamil debut in this film. Shivarajkumar has stated that his role in the sequel will be more substantial than just a cameo and that the film will pick up from where the 2023 film ended. Rajinikanth will reprise his role as Muthuvel Pandian.
