Veteran actor Suniel Shetty has vehemently refuted rumors that his son, Ahan Shetty, was dropped from the movie "Sanki" due to excessive entourage costs. In a recent interview, Suniel addressed the speculation surrounding Ahan's absence from films following his debut in "Tadap" (2021), dismissing the claims as baseless gossip circulated for the producer's convenience.
Suniel stated firmly, "Ahan has never gone overboard with his entourage. These are all rumours". He challenged the claims, stating, "If the producer says that he can show a bill, then I will see. There the father steps in and will step in, very very clearly. Don't spread lies to hide your weaknesses, because it's not fair on Ahan".
Ahan Shetty, who is set to appear in the upcoming war drama "Border 2", also addressed the rumors, stating that the reports about his high entourage costs were untrue. He acknowledged the need to be "thick-skinned" in the film industry, prepared for potential future misinformation.
Suniel Shetty emphasized his and Ahan's cautious approach to on-set expenses. "Ahan is very very careful with his entourage. And if it's his entourage, he will pay for it," he stated. He further revealed that he personally brings his own food and water to sets, setting an example for his team and ensuring responsible spending. "My staff can't dare to do otherwise, so Ahan's staff would definitely not do it," Suniel added.
The topic of actors' entourage costs has become a significant point of discussion within Bollywood. Some producers, like Karan Johar, have expressed concerns about the financial burden of accommodating extensive entourages and have advocated for actors to cover additional personal expenses. Suniel Shetty offered a broader perspective on actors' fees, suggesting that they are justified in asking for more, especially when they contribute to a film's financial success. He proposed that actors should be treated as partners and share in the film's profits.
Ahan Shetty's career faced initial hurdles after "Tadap," which was released during the pandemic with limited theater occupancy. Despite the challenges, he is now focused on "Border 2" and is navigating the industry with a resilient attitude.
