Veteran actor Prakash Raj has reportedly joined the cast of the highly anticipated Ajay Devgn-starrer Drishyam 3. This development comes after reports of Jaideep Ahlawat joining the film in December 2025. Drishyam 3 is the third installment in the Drishyam franchise, known for its intricate plot twists and turns. The film is scheduled to be released on October 2, 2026.

Prakash Raj confirmed his participation in the film on social media, stating that he has already begun shooting. He also clarified that he is not replacing any actor in the film. "Started shooting for this engaging franchise #Drishyam3 in hindi. With a wonderful team and a scintillating role to play. I'm sure you will love it. (and yes I'm not replacing anyone)," Raj shared on X. Sources indicate that Prakash Raj was drawn to the project due to the script and the unique character offered to him. The specifics of his role are being kept under wraps, but it is confirmed that he will not be playing a police officer. The source added that the character is fresh and intriguing and significantly adds to the narrative.

The Drishyam series features Ajay Devgn, Tabu, and Shriya Saran. Other cast members include Ishita Dutta, Rajat Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and Mrunal Jadhav. Drishyam 3 is directed by Abhishek Pathak, who also directed Drishyam 2. The film is written by Abhishek Pathak, Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh.

Earlier reports suggested that Jaideep Ahlawat had joined the cast of Drishyam 3, with speculation that he might be replacing Akshaye Khanna. However, director Abhishek Pathak clarified that Jaideep Ahlawat is not replacing Akshaye Khanna, and that a new character has been written for him. Kumar Mangat Pathak, producer, said that Jaideep Ahlawat has been cast in a new role and will do what Akshay was doing, but he will come in a new form. There were reports that Kumar Mangat Pathak issued a legal notice to Akshaye Khanna for breach of agreement.
