The murder of Haryana model Sheetal Choudhary, 26, has become a high-profile case after her body was discovered in a canal near Kharkhoda, Sonipat, on Monday, June 16, 2025. The model's married boyfriend, Sunil, has since confessed to the crime.
According to reports, Sheetal and Sunil had been in a relationship for approximately six years, which began when Sheetal worked at Sunil's hotel in Karnal. On the night of Saturday, June 14, 2025, Sheetal was in Ahar village, Panipat, for a Haryanvi album shoot. Sunil met her there around 10:30 pm, and they went to his car.
Reportedly, the couple had drinks, which led to a heated argument. At approximately 1:30 am, Sheetal made a video call to her sister, Neha, during which she disclosed that Sunil was physically assaulting her. Shortly after this call, Sheetal's phone was switched off, severing communication.
Police investigations suggest that Sunil allegedly stabbed Sheetal multiple times, resulting in her death. In an attempt to cover up the crime, he allegedly threw her body into a canal along with his car, to stage it as an accident. However, on Sunday, police discovered Sunil's car in the canal, but Sheetal's body was not present. Sunil, who had been admitted to a hospital in Panipat, claimed that the car had accidentally fallen into the canal. He stated that he had managed to swim to safety, but Sheetal had drowned.
The police grew suspicious of Sunil's account, leading to further interrogation. Eventually, Sunil confessed to the murder. The model's body was recovered on Monday, approximately 80 kilometers from Panipat, in a canal near Kharkhoda. Tattoos on her hand and chest were used to confirm her identity. The body also bore multiple stab wounds, confirming the violent nature of her death. Sunil has been arrested, and the police investigation is ongoing to determine the exact motive behind the murder.
Sheetal, who was a known face in the Haryanvi music video industry, was also married and had a five-month-old baby. Her body has been sent for a postmortem examination. The Haryana Police are currently examining CCTV footage and are working jointly to investigate all possible angles of the murder.
