A Nihang Singh and two women accompanying him attacked a police team in Kharar, Mohali district, resulting in injuries to two constables. The incident occurred when an interstate police team arrived in Chaumajra village to arrest the Nihang in connection with a snatching case.

The accused, identified as Amandeep Singh Ausan, was wanted for allegedly stealing ₹55,000 from the Bhadroia toll plaza in Damtal, Himachal Pradesh. According to Kharar DSP Karan Singh Sandhu, Amandeep, dressed in traditional Nihang attire, attacked toll plaza staff with swords (kirpans) when they asked him to stop for toll clearance on the night of June 26-27. He was allegedly accompanied by two women who also participated in the assault.

The Himachal Pradesh police coordinated with Kharar police to track down Amandeep, eventually intercepting him near Chaumajra village. As the police moved in to make the arrest, Amandeep and the two women allegedly attacked them with swords, injuring constables Sukhmander Singh and Davinder Singh of Kharar City police station. One of the constables required eight to nine stitches on his arm.

Amandeep Singh Ausan has been arrested, and the two women have been detained. A case has been registered against the accused for obstructing government duty and attempted murder.

In a separate incident in January 2025, a group of Nihangs attacked a police team in Kamalpura village in Jagraon. The police team had arrived to arrest the Nihangs, who were allegedly involved in carjackings. During the clash, at least four police personnel were injured, including Sadar station-house officer (SHO) inspector Harshveer Singh and Marado police post in-charge sub-inspector Tarsem Singh. Gunshots were reportedly fired during the confrontation. Two of the accused, Simarjit Singh and Manjinder Singh, were arrested. The police recovered a stolen car and several sharp-edged weapons from their possession. It was revealed that Manjinder Singh was wanted in connection to a murder case.

These incidents highlight the potential for violent clashes involving members of the Nihang community and law enforcement.
