In a shocking incident that unfolded on a busy road in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, a man shot his live-in partner in the face. The incident occurred in broad daylight, near the iconic Roop Singh Stadium, causing panic and outrage among onlookers.

The accused, identified as Arvind Parihar, stopped his girlfriend, Nandini Parihar, in the middle of the road before firing multiple bullets at her face. Nandini sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where she later died.

Arvind Parihar was apprehended by police shortly after the incident. According to reports, police used tear gas to subdue and arrest him. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter.

Preliminary investigations have revealed a history of conflict and violence in the relationship between Arvind and Nandini. In November 2024, Nandini had filed a domestic violence case against Arvind, after which he allegedly attempted to run her over with his car, along with her mother and son.

This is not an isolated incident of violence against women in Gwalior. In May 2022, a 25-year-old man allegedly shot his girlfriend before killing himself after she got engaged to another man. In another incident, a man shot and killed his wife before taking his own life. These incidents highlight the urgent need for greater awareness and action to address domestic violence and protect women in the region.

The recent shooting has sparked widespread condemnation and calls for justice. Activists and community leaders are demanding a thorough and speedy investigation, as well as stricter laws and enforcement to prevent such tragedies from happening again. The incident has also reignited the debate about the prevalence of domestic violence in India and the need for more effective support systems for victims.
