The father of Navjot Singh, the Finance Ministry official who died in a road accident involving a BMW in Delhi, has spoken out about his son's promising future and the family's grief. Navjot Singh, who was working as a Deputy Secretary in the Finance Ministry and was in charge of work done by the UNDP, was killed on Sunday when his motorcycle was hit by a speeding BMW car near Dhaula Kuan in South Delhi. He was with his wife, and they were on their way home from Gurdwara Bangla Sahib.

Balwant Singh, Navjot's father and a retired Flying Officer, described his son as a careful and cautious driver who had recently purchased the Triumph motorbike he was riding that day. He recounted his shock and disbelief upon learning of his son's death, stating, "I cannot believe that my son is no more... He was to get promoted in six months' time... Everything is over,".

The accident has raised serious questions about the emergency response and medical care provided to the victims. Navjot's son, Navnoor Singh, has alleged that his father could have survived if he had been taken to a nearby super-specialty hospital instead of one located 20 kilometers away. He told ANI that the accident occurred around 1:00-1:30 PM on Ring Road near Metro Pillar No. 67 in Dhaula Kuan. Navnoor stated that his parents were taken to Nulife Hospital in GTB Nagar, which he alleges is owned by the woman driving the BMW. He claimed the hospital lacked adequate facilities and emergency arrangements. "My father was declared dead there, but people said that death instantly after an accident is very rare. There are many superspeciality hospitals nearby, AIIMS included. If he had been taken there, he could have been saved," Navnoor said. He further claimed that his mother was bandaged on a stretcher in the lobby, while the BMW driver and her husband, who sustained minor injuries, were admitted to the same hospital.

Adding to the family's distress, Navjot's wife, in her complaint to the police, stated that the occupants of the BMW insisted on taking them to the GTB Nagar hospital after the accident. She recalled requesting to be taken to a nearby hospital. According to a van driver named Gulfam, who transported the injured, the couple in the BMW had insisted on going to the hospital nearly 22 kilometers away.

Police have arrested Gaganpreet Kaur, the woman who was driving the BMW. Authorities are also investigating whether any evidence was tampered with, and an FIR has been registered under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has examined the scene.

The family has shifted Navjot’s wife to Venkateshwara Hospital for better treatment. The luxury car and the motorcycle involved have been seized by the police. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are piecing together the events surrounding the crash and the handling of the injured.
