Sunjay Kapur's Sister Wants Daily Calls with Karisma Kapoor Amid Ongoing Family Assets Dispute.

The dispute over the late businessman Sunjay Kapur's assets has taken a new turn, with his sister, Mandhira Kapur Smith, revealing that she and her mother, Rani Kapur, are in daily contact with Karisma Kapoor amid the ongoing legal proceedings. This comes as Karisma Kapoor's children, Samaira and Kiaan, challenge what they describe as a "bogus will" that allegedly deprives them of their rightful share in Kapur's estate.

The Delhi High Court is currently hearing arguments in the property dispute, with Karisma's children alleging that their stepmother, Priya Kapur, has "appropriated" property and emptied bank accounts using the contested will. Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, representing Samaira and Kiaan, has objected to the secrecy surrounding the asset details, arguing that "confidentiality is a cloak under which you fritter away the assets". He claimed that two bank accounts had been emptied and a 6% share in a company diverted to Priya Kapur.

Priya Kapur's counsel, Senior Advocate Rajiv Nayar, requested confidentiality, stating that details revealed in court should not be made public. Justice Jyoti Singh has directed that while parties should avoid speaking to the media, Priya Kapur may file the asset list in a sealed cover. The judge also ordered that a copy of the will be provided to Sunjay's mother, Rani Kapur, with an undertaking not to leak it, and that the original will remain in the custody of the Registrar General for secure handling.

Mandhira Kapur Smith has voiced her support for Karisma Kapoor and her children, stating that it "doesn't make sense" that Sunjay would exclude Samaira and Kiaan from his will. She told NDTV that her father's bloodline is getting nothing of what he created. "Our children are not seeing a penny. My mother's not seeing a penny," she said. Mandhira also expressed surprise at the insistence on a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), finding the idea "a bit absurd".

The contentious case centers on Sunjay Kapur's personal estate and is separate from the RK Trust, which sources close to Karisma Kapoor say her children cannot access despite claims of a Rs 1,900-crore stake. The family battle intensified when Rani Kapur, Sunjay and Mandhira's mother, wrote to the board of Sona Group claiming she is the sole beneficiary of her late husband Surinder Kapur's empire and majority shareholder of the group. She also alleged she was forced to sign documents appointing Priya Sachdev Kapur as a non-executive director on the board.

Amid the legal dispute, Mandhira Kapur has praised Karisma Kapoor for being a "good mother" and "looking out for her kids". She emphasized Karisma's efforts to keep the family connected, particularly for the sake of her children.

The Delhi High Court has directed Priya Sachdev Kapur to disclose all of Sunjay Kapur's assets. The court gave this direction on the petition filed by Karisma Kapoor's children. The lawsuit accuses Priya of forging and fabricating a purported will, and the siblings seek a share in their father's assets worth ₹30,000 crore.
