Tottenham Hotspur head coach Thomas Frank has publicly expressed his belief in the commitment of the club's owners, ENIC and the Lewis family trust, to achieve "something special" at the club. This statement comes amidst reports of rejected takeover bids and speculation surrounding the club's future.
Frank's comments follow a statement released by Spurs via the London Stock Exchange, confirming that ENIC had "unequivocally rejected" an informal expression of interest from a consortium led by American tech entrepreneur Brooklyn Earick to acquire shares in Tottenham. This was the third expression of interest to be turned down this month, with previous approaches from Amanda Staveley's PCP International Finance and a consortium led by Dr Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng through Firehawk Holdings Limited also being rejected.
The rejection of these bids underscores the Lewis family's intention to retain ownership and continue building the club. Frank emphasized this point, stating that the owners are "very, very invested. 120 per cent committed to the club". He added, "They really want to achieve something special, want to build and want to add".
Since Daniel Levy's departure on September 4th after 24 years as chairman, the Lewis family trust has assumed greater power within the club, with the aim of achieving "more wins, more often". Frank seems confident in the direction the club is heading under their leadership.
Frank also highlighted the importance of building gradually, stating, "Again, I think I like the phrase building layers because you never go to the top. You can't jump five steps. That's impossible". He believes that a gradual, organic approach is more sustainable in the long run.
In addition to the takeover talk, Frank addressed the fitness of several key players ahead of Tottenham's Premier League clash against Wolves. Dominic Solanke is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, and Randal Kolo Muani is also unavailable. Pape Matar Sarr has been dealing with a slight groin injury, while Ben Davies has a minor knee issue. Long-term absentees Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison remain out with knee problems, and Radu Dragusin is recovering from an ACL injury.
Despite these injury concerns, Frank expressed satisfaction with Richarlison's recent performances, saying, "Richy is playing and doing good, three goals and one assist, good numbers. Happy with Richy. He just needs to keep building, keep adding good performances, keep arriving in good areas in the box".
Frank's appointment as Tottenham head coach earlier this year was described as a "perfect fit" for the club. He joined Spurs from Brenford, bringing with him assistant coaches Justin Cotrain, Chris Ham, John Newton, and Andreas Jorgensson.
