Arshad Warsi and Jitendra Kumar are set to star in the upcoming crime thriller "Bhagwat," which will premiere exclusively on ZEE5. The film, inspired by true events, is produced by Jio Studios in association with Baweja Studios and Dog 'n' Bone Pictures.
"Bhagwat" follows Inspector Vishwas Bhagwat, played by Arshad Warsi, as he investigates a missing woman's case that initially seems routine. However, the investigation soon spirals into a dark and twisted web of deceit, secrets, and suspected trafficking. Amidst the unfolding chaos, a tender romance develops between Meera and Sameer, a professor played by Jitendra Kumar, adding an unexpected layer of vulnerability to the narrative and contrasting with the story's tension.
Directed by Akshay Shere, "Bhagwat" promises a compelling face-off between two powerhouse performers. The film is set against the backdrop of Robertsganj, Uttar Pradesh, blending mystery, emotion, and drama to deliver a high-impact streaming experience.
Kaveri Das, Business Head, Hindi, ZEE5, shared that ZEE5 is drawn to stories that linger and leave an impact. She describes "Bhagwat" as a powerful reflection of this vision: a gripping thriller that's emotionally layered and suspenseful. Das added that Arshad Warsi brings remarkable depth to his character, while Jitendra Kumar breaks new ground in a surprising avatar, making "Bhagwat" one of ZEE5's most compelling offerings of the year.
Harman Baweja, Producer, Baweja Studios, stated that their endeavor has always been to back stories that are bold, relevant, and emotionally compelling. He believes "'Bhagwat' is a perfect example of this commitment," calling it a journey into the shadows of human nature where love, deception, and justice collide. Baweja added that the film explores the grey areas of morality while delivering a nail-biting cinematic experience and that partnering with ZEE5 and Jio Studios has allowed them to bring this compelling drama to life.
ZEE5 announced the film on social media, sharing the first look poster and captioning it, "And we thought all the plot twists of 2025 were over, but the biggest one is here… Bhagwat is coming to blow your mind".
Arshad Warsi's previous OTT series, "Asur," left a lasting impression, while Jitendra Kumar's performances in "Kota Factory" and "Panchayat" have won critical acclaim.
