Delhi Tragedy: Infant's Fatal Fall into Bucket Highlights Water Safety Risks and Child Negligence.

A one-year-old girl tragically died after falling headfirst into a bucket filled with water at her home in Delhi's Budh Vihar. Police reported the incident occurred on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

The incident came to light on September 29, when the Jaipur Golden Hospital informed the Vijay Vihar police station that a child, identified as Bhagya, had been brought dead to the facility. According to family members, the girl fell into the bucket at her home around 12 noon. A senior police officer stated that no external injuries were found on the body.

Similar incidents have occurred in the past. In 2011, an 18-month-old boy died after falling into a bucket of water in West Delhi. In March 2018, a one-and-a-half-year-old child died in east Delhi's Dallupura village after allegedly falling into a bucket of water while playing in the bathroom. In that instance, the child's mother found him upside down in the bucket and rushed him to the hospital, where he died during treatment. Police investigations suggested the child was playing with a glass that fell into the bucket, and he drowned while trying to retrieve it.
