A 1998 Tale: The South African Bartender, Bollywood Star, and Secret Stash of Liquor.

In 1998, during the filming of the Bollywood movie "Dushman" in South Africa, an amusing incident occurred involving actor Sanjay Dutt and a hotel bartender. Actress-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt, who starred alongside Dutt in the film, recounted the story on her talk show, "The Pooja Bhatt Show".

The cast and crew of "Dushman" were staying at the Victoria Hotel in Cape Town. According to Bhatt, when she and Dutt entered the hotel lobby, the bartender ducked out of sight. Intrigued, Bhatt inquired why the bartender was hiding. The bartender confessed that during Dutt's previous stay at the same hotel while shooting for "Kartoos" with Pooja's father, the crew had consumed so much alcohol that the hotel had to order extra cases to replenish their stock.

Bhatt also recalled another incident where the film's director, Tanuja Chandra, urged everyone to go to bed early because they had an early morning shoot the next day. However, Dutt was not ready to end the evening. Meanwhile, Bhatt had made plans to attend a rave nearby. Chandra went to her room, and Dutt lingered in the corridor. Chandra told Dutt to go to sleep, so he went to her room and started talking to her. Bhatt, who was in the next room, tried to eavesdrop on their conversation. Suddenly, Chandra flung the door open, and Bhatt fell into the room. Chandra jokingly scolded Dutt before bursting out laughing. Dutt, sensing Bhatt's presence, had opened the door to reveal her eavesdropping. Bhatt's plan to attend the rave was thwarted, and she had to go to bed.

Sanjay Dutt, son of veteran actors Sunil Dutt and Nargis Dutt, has had a long and eventful career in Bollywood. He has starred in numerous successful films, including "Rocky," "Vaastav: The Reality," and the "Munna Bhai" series. Pooja Bhatt is an actress, filmmaker, and talk show host known for her roles in films like "Daddy," "Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin," and "Zakhm". Tanuja Chandra is a film director and writer who has directed films like "Dushman," "Sangharsh," and "Qarib Qarib Singlle".

The incident involving the South African bartender provides a lighthearted glimpse into the behind-the-scenes antics of Bollywood film shoots and the camaraderie shared between actors and crew members. It also highlights Sanjay Dutt's larger-than-life personality and reputation for enjoying a good time.
