Enrique Iglesias's recent two-day concert in Mumbai has generated a substantial economic impact, injecting over $10 million USD into Maharashtra's tourism sector. The multi-Grammy Award-winning artist returned to India after a 13-year absence, performing at the MMRDA Grounds to a captivated audience of over 60,000 fans.
The concerts, held on October 29 and 30, 2025, marked Iglesias's first performance in Mumbai, following previous shows in India in 2004 and 2012. The event was promoted by EVA Live, who aimed to deliver a world-class entertainment experience. Supporting acts included Indo-Canadian singer Jonita Gandhi and the EDM duo Progressive Brothers.
The concerts drew fans from across India, with over 50% traveling from more than 30 states, including Karnataka, Assam, Haryana, Gujarat, Delhi, Rajasthan, Ahmedabad, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab. This broad geographic representation highlights Iglesias's widespread appeal and the concert's significance as a cultural event.
Agoda, a digital travel platform, reported a 160% surge in domestic accommodation searches for stays in Mumbai during the concert dates, indicating a significant boost to the local hospitality industry. This increase surpassed that of other major international acts performing in Mumbai around the same time, such as Travis Scott (110% increase) and Akon (20% increase).
The economic impact extends beyond accommodation, with potential boosts in daily consumer spending in local restaurants and increased hotel bookings as fans traveled from across the country. The event also drew a number of Bollywood celebrities, further amplifying its cultural significance.
Gaurav Malik, Country Director – Agoda (Indian Subcontinent & Indian Ocean Islands), noted the clear connection between concert announcements and increased travel interest, which bodes well for Mumbai's future as a music tourism destination. This positions Mumbai not only as India's financial capital but also as a growing music tourism hub.
The success of the Enrique Iglesias concert, along with other international events, is expected to drive domestic travel growth in India well into 2025 and beyond. Mumbai is emerging as a key player in India's domestic travel growth story, offering a wide selection of accommodations and local experiences for concert-goers. This trend is transforming the live entertainment sector into a significant economic force, creating jobs and boosting tourism.
