Reports circulated earlier today indicated that veteran actor Dharmendra was on ventilator support at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital after experiencing breathlessness last week. The actor, who is set to turn 90 on December 8, 2025, was reportedly admitted to the hospital after complaining of breathlessness, prompting doctors to closely monitor him. Initial reports suggested his condition had deteriorated, leading to the need for ventilator support.
However, sources close to the family, including those close to his son Sunny Deol, have refuted these claims, dismissing them as "fake". These sources clarified that while Dharmendra has been hospitalized for about a week, he is not on a ventilator and is currently under observation and recuperating. One source stated that if the actor were in critical condition, his entire family would be present at the hospital.
Dharmendra was initially admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital on October 31 for a routine check-up. At the time, his team assured fans that there was "absolutely no cause for concern," stating that he was in good health and that these hospital visits are regular occurrences for routine medical tests. Despite these assurances, concerns grew when reports emerged that he had been admitted after complaining of breathlessness.
On November 1, a hospital staff member confirmed that Dharmendra was admitted due to breathlessness and was resting in the ICU. Shortly after the news broke, Dharmendra's wife, Hema Malini, was seen at the airport and offered a reassuring gesture to the media, indicating that her husband was doing well.
Dharmendra, often referred to as the "He-Man" of Bollywood, has maintained an active professional life despite his age. Earlier this year, he underwent cataract surgery. His youngest son, Bobby Deol, recently mentioned in an interview that Dharmendra continues to live with his first wife, Prakash Kaur, at their Khandala farmhouse near Mumbai.
Looking ahead, Dharmendra is slated to appear in Sriram Raghavan's upcoming war drama, 'Ikkis'. The film, which also stars Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia, is based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra.
