Delhi Blast Investigation: Uncovering the Vehicle Connections - i20, Brezza, EcoSport, and the Web of Evidence

The recent deadly car explosion near Delhi's Red Fort, which claimed 13 lives, has exposed a far-reaching terror conspiracy with links to multiple vehicles. Investigations reveal that the suspects had planned to rig as many as 32 vehicles with explosives for coordinated attacks across several cities.

The probe, initiated after the November 10th blast involving a Hyundai i20, has led authorities to uncover a network of individuals allegedly plotting a multi-pronged attack using vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and assault rifles. DNA testing has confirmed that Dr. Umar Un Nabi, a doctor from Pulwama, was driving the i20 when it exploded. His leg was found trapped between the steering wheel and the accelerator, confirming he was behind the wheel.

The investigation has widened to include a red Ford EcoSport, registration number DL 10 CK 0458, which was seized in Faridabad and is registered to Dr. Umar Nabi. Police have also launched a search for a third vehicle, a Maruti Suzuki Brezza, suspected to be connected to the terror plot. It is feared this vehicle may contain hidden explosives or devices.

According to police sources, the suspects procured the Hyundai i20, the Ford EcoSport, and the Maruti Suzuki Brezza to carry vehicle-borne IEDs for a coordinated strike. The EcoSport is believed to have been used for reconnaissance activities. Investigators are exploring the possibility that the missing Brezza was used for reconnaissance or as an escape vehicle.

The investigation suggests a larger terror conspiracy with coordinated explosions planned at multiple locations. Preliminary findings indicate that the suspects, working in pairs, were assigned to specific cities and were to move with multiple IEDs for simultaneous strikes. Among those under scrutiny are individuals linked to earlier terror cases.

Authorities believe Dr. Umar Nabi panicked after a multi-state terror module was busted in Faridabad. This may have triggered the blast while he was transporting explosive material in the i20.

The investigation has revealed that the terror plot has international links, with the conspiracy allegedly planned in Turkiye in 2022. Dr. Umar reportedly visited Ankara in March 2022 and received instructions from a handler based in Turkey.

Following the blast, security measures have been heightened in Delhi and surrounding areas. Major train stations and airports have been placed on high alert. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the case.
