Mona Singh recently shared an anecdote about the time Shah Rukh Khan visited the set during the filming of "Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela," a recreated song sequence for the Netflix series "The Ba***ds Of Bollywood". In an exclusive interview, Singh recounted the experience of filming the song with Bobby Deol and revealed the impact of Khan's presence on set.
"When we were shooting for 'Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela,' it was a new zone for me because I have never done a song like that before," Singh shared. She described the costume and choreography as unique compared to current trends. It was during this time that Shah Rukh Khan visited the set.
While some reports suggest a humorous incident where Singh playfully told Khan to leave [cite:NA], other accounts emphasize the positive impact of his visit. Singh mentioned that Khan's presence and encouragement motivated her to embrace the new experience.
The song "Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela" was originally picturized on Bobby Deol in the movie "Gupt" (1997). For "The Ba***ds Of Bollywood," the filmmakers cleverly incorporated Singh into the original music video, creating a sense of doubt and hinting at a possible relationship between her character and Deol's. Singh revealed that she had to match her movements precisely to the original version, which she found tricky but fun. She did not shoot with Bobby Deol directly, as his part had already been filmed. Singh had to mirror every movement within a specific frame.
Mona Singh plays Neeta Singh, the mother of Aasmaan Singh (Lakshya), in "The Ba***ds Of Bollywood". Her character is a former background dancer who left the industry for her family, but the real reason was her affair with Ajay Talvar (Bobby Deol), a superstar. The series, directed by Aryan Khan, features a controversial climax that reveals Aasmaan is the illegitimate son of Neeta and Ajay.
Singh lauded Aryan Khan for his clarity of thought and involvement in every aspect of filming. She praised his vision for the climax scene, noting the impact of the slow-motion shot without music. Singh also mentioned that Aryan was always joking and laughing on set, bringing food from home and maintaining enthusiasm.
"The Ba***ds Of Bollywood" has been well-received, with many praising its cameos, offbeat storytelling, and controversial climax. Singh revealed that the climax shocked many, and her favorite scene was Raghav Juyal singing for Emraan Hashmi, followed by the climax. The series also includes cameos from numerous Bollywood stars, including Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Shah Rukh Khan.
Mona Singh is now preparing for her next project, "Thode Door Thode Paas," a family drama set to premiere on Zee5 on November 7, 2025.
