A major road accident near Navale Bridge on the Pune–Bengaluru Highway has resulted in six fatalities and at least eight injuries. The incident occurred on Thursday evening when a container truck lost control and collided with multiple vehicles, leading to a severe fire.
According to officials, the collision involved multiple vehicles, and the resulting blaze engulfed two to three heavy vehicles. Videos from the scene depicted a car crushed between two burning container trucks. Firefighters were dispatched to the location with water tankers to extinguish the fire.
DCP Sambhaji Kadam of Pune Police stated that authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. The immediate priority is to ensure that the injured receive prompt medical treatment at a nearby hospital.
The accident has also caused a significant traffic jam on the Pune-Bengaluru Highway.
