Ajay Devgn on Modern Love's "Casual" Nature Following Kajol's "Expiry Date" Comment: Lack of Deep Feeling

Bollywood actors Ajay Devgn and Kajol, married for over 26 years, are in the spotlight due to their contrasting views on modern relationships. The discussion was sparked by Kajol's recent appearance on "Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle," where she stated that marriage should have an expiry date and a renewal option.

Kajol's comments have ignited a widespread debate about the evolving perceptions of love, commitment, and the traditional sanctity of marriage. She suggested that a renewal option would make sense in modern marriages, and if there's an expiry date, no one has to suffer for too long. Some fans have lauded Kajol's take as a refreshing and relevant perspective in today's world, where emotional compatibility and mental well-being are increasingly prioritized. Others have criticized her comment, arguing that it challenges the traditional sanctity of marriage.

In a separate interview with BookMyShow's YouTube channel, alongside R Madhavan while promoting their upcoming movie "De De Pyaar De 2," Ajay Devgn shared his thoughts on how the meaning of love has changed over time. He expressed that love has become more casual, and the word "love" is overused, leading to a loss of its depth. "From what I see, it has become more casual than it was. The word 'love' has been used so much unnecessarily that it has lost its meaning. In our generation, saying 'I love you' was a big deal," he said. He added that nowadays, every message has a heart emoji or ends with 'love'.

Madhavan echoed Devgn's sentiments, agreeing that earlier generations treated love with greater sincerity. He compared modern love to the affection people show their pets, which is unconditional. “There was a great amount of satisfaction in getting your love at one point of time. I really hope the younger generation can feel the kind of comfort we felt when we were in the company of someone we loved,” Madhavan shared.

"De De Pyaar De 2," directed by Anshul Sharma, is set to release on November 14 and stars Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, R Madhavan, and Gautami Kapoor. The film is already generating excitement, with early reviews describing it as a "full-on rollercoaster ride" that dives deeper into emotions while maintaining the fun.

Despite their differing views on the concept of marriage, Ajay Devgn and Kajol's relationship remains one of Bollywood's most enduring romances. They have often spoken about their contrasting personalities and how they complement each other. Kajol once hilariously said that the secret to their happy married life is that she speaks a lot, and Ajay quietly listens.
