Akanksha Bhandari, the singer-songwriter known for her folk-pop infused melodies, has released her highly anticipated EP, ‘RANG’. This five-track collection is a tender and intimate exploration of love and togetherness, drawing inspiration from the emotions and moments surrounding a wedding journey.
The EP captures a range of feelings associated with weddings, from the strong bonds between family members to the lively excitement of pre-wedding celebrations. Each song on the EP is inspired by a different moment in the wedding journey.
The title track, ‘Rang,’ which was released as a single prior to the EP, encapsulates the desire to share every shade of life with a loved one. Co-created with her partner, Manav, the song expresses a wish to blend into a partner's world, offering strength and sharing happiness. Bhandari has said that ‘Rang’ is very close to her heart as it embodies love in its truest form — giving your all to the person who completes you.
Bhandari describes ‘Rang’ as a song that originated from a composition by her husband. Initially, it wasn't intended for the wedding EP, but its unique expression of love, focusing on being "colored by your colors" rather than simply belonging to someone, made her reconsider. She felt it offered a different perspective on wedding songs, allowing her to uniquely share her feelings. The final verse was composed to give it "an extra wedding feeling," blending indie-pop sensibilities with wedding elements.
The ‘RANG’ EP includes the tracks "Piya Ghar," "Rang," "Baabula," "Maahi Soneya," and "Nachiye". Akanksha worked with Rehat on some of the tracks.
Akanksha's signature folk-pop sound is evident throughout the EP, creating a gentle, grounding, and enduring atmosphere that reflects the constancy and comfort of love. She hopes to explore the fusion of folk and other genres even further, creating a unique flavor in her music.
