In a powerful address to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated "Operation Sindoor" to the mothers, sisters, and daughters of India, emphasizing the operation's significance as a response to terrorism and a testament to the country's resolve to protect its people. The Prime Minister's address, delivered on May 12, 2025, marked his first communication to the nation since the terror attack in Kashmir's Pahalgam.
PM Modi strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack, where innocent people were killed after being asked about their religion. He asserted that "Operation Sindoor" serves as a powerful message to terrorists, making them realize the consequences of targeting the "sindoor" (vermilion) of Indian women. He declared that the operation is an "unwavering pledge for justice" and a reflection of the sentiments of millions of Indians.
The Prime Minister lauded the Indian armed forces for their valor and courage in carrying out "Operation Sindoor". He stated that India has destroyed the headquarters of terror and eliminated over 100 terrorists who had been freely roaming in Pakistan. He further added that India attacked the heart of Pakistan, destroying their air bases, which left Pakistan stunned and begging for peace. Modi also highlighted that terrorist sites like Bhawalpur and Muridke, which were the universities of global terrorism, were attacked. He emphasized the connection of these sites to major terrorist attacks worldwide, including 9/11.
PM Modi conveyed a stern message to Pakistan, condemning their support for terrorism and asserting that they have been taught a lesson. He affirmed that India will respond decisively to any terrorist attack on its soil, acting on its own terms. He also saluted the armed forces, the military, the intelligence agencies, and the scientists for their contributions.
"Operation Sindoor," according to PM Modi, is not just a name but a representation of the feelings of millions of people in the country. He highlighted that the world witnessed the pledge of justice turning into reality through the actions of the Indian armed forces. The Prime Minister made it clear that India has given full freedom to the Indian army to wipe out terrorists.
