In a recent address to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared "Operation Sindoor" as India's new and resolute policy against terrorism, marking a significant shift in the country's approach to cross-border threats. This announcement follows the successful execution of "Operation Sindoor," a decisive military action targeting terror infrastructure within Pakistan, undertaken in response to the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam.
The Prime Minister strongly condemned the Pahalgam attack, describing it as the "most barbaric face of terrorism" and a personal pain. The assault, which resulted in the loss of 26 lives, prompted a swift and decisive response from the Indian armed forces. Modi emphasized that "Operation Sindoor" was not merely a retaliatory strike but a fundamental change in India's strategy, signaling a zero-tolerance stance towards terrorism.
"Operation Sindoor is not just a name. It is a reflection of the feelings of millions of people in the country. Operation Sindoor is an unbroken pledge of justice," Modi stated, highlighting the operation's significance as a symbol of national resolve. He dedicated the bravery and courage of the armed forces to every mother, sister, and daughter of the nation, underscoring the operation's objective to protect the honor and safety of Indian women.
PM Modi asserted that India has given full freedom to the Indian army to wipe out the terrorists. He proclaimed that terrorists wouldn't have dreamed that India would take such big steps. According to the Prime Minister, the world witnessed India's resolve turn into action on May 6th and 7th, when Indian missiles and drones struck terrorist sites in Pakistan. He claimed that the strikes not only destroyed buildings but also shattered the courage of the terrorists.
Furthermore, Modi conveyed a strong message to Pakistan, stating that future talks would only occur regarding Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and terrorism. He also indicated the possibility of suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and declared that water and blood cannot flow together. Modi warned Pakistan that terrorists nurtured by them would eventually destroy Pakistan itself.
Following the operation, Pakistan reportedly pleaded for a cessation of attacks, which India considered only after receiving assurances that Pakistan would cease its "misadventure". PM Modi cautioned that while operations against Pakistan have been temporarily suspended, future actions would depend on their behavior. He also conveyed that India will not tolerate any nuclear blackmail.
The Prime Minister's address resonated with a firm message: India will no longer tolerate cross-border terrorism and is prepared to take decisive action to protect its citizens and interests. "Operation Sindoor" signifies a new era in India's counter-terrorism strategy, characterized by proactive measures and a willingness to respond forcefully to any act of terror.
