Halle Bailey has been granted temporary sole legal and physical custody of her 16-month-old son, Halo Saint, whom she shares with her ex-boyfriend, Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., also known as DDG. The "Little Mermaid" star, 25, requested the custody order following allegations of physical, verbal, and emotional abuse against the 27-year-old rapper.
The custody arrangement is temporary, pending a court hearing scheduled for June 4, 2025. In addition to granting Bailey custody, a Los Angeles judge previously ordered a temporary restraining order against DDG, requiring him to stay at least 100 yards away from Bailey and Halo at all times. This includes Halo's school and Bailey's vehicle. The restraining order also remains in effect until the June hearing.
Bailey's request for sole custody and the restraining order stem from alleged abuse throughout her two-year relationship with DDG, which ended in October 2024. According to court documents, Bailey claims DDG has been physically, verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive. She states that she is seeking these orders to protect herself and her son from his ongoing abuse.
Specific incidents detailed in the court filings include a January 2025 altercation where Bailey alleges DDG repeatedly insulted her while she was trying to strap Halo into his car seat. She claims the situation escalated, leading to a physical fight where DDG allegedly pulled her hair and slammed her face into the steering wheel, resulting in a chipped tooth and bruises. Bailey included photos of her chipped tooth and bruises in her filings.
Another incident described in the documents alleges that DDG entered Bailey's home without permission in March 2025 and sent her a photo of her bed with a threatening message suggesting she was seeing other men. Bailey also filed a police report after DDG allegedly smashed her Ring camera during a confrontation where she refused to send Halo, who was sick, for a visit with him. She further claims he took her phone and threw it out of the car window as he drove away.
Bailey has also accused DDG of "badmouthing" her to his millions of fans on Twitch and YouTube, alleging that he accuses her of withholding their son and being with other men, which leads to threats and hate on social media. She says he often calls her derogatory names and tries to create drama for his fans.
In addition to sole custody and the restraining order, Bailey has requested that DDG not be allowed visitation with Halo. However, she is also asking that he be granted supervised visits with a professional company once a week for six hours while Halo is in Los Angeles. She is also requesting that DDG be prevented from taking their son outside of Los Angeles County. Bailey has also requested an order to prevent child abduction, stating that DDG has a history of abusing her, taking away or hiding Halo from her, threatening to do so, and not cooperating with parenting. She is asking the court to prevent DDG from moving with Halo without her written permission and to hand over Halo's passport or prevent him from applying for one. If travel is permitted, she requests he provide full itinerary details, contact information, and a return ticket.
DDG appeared to learn about the restraining order during a livestream, expressing confusion. Bailey stated she did not give him advance notice because she feared he would retaliate with violence or take Halo out of the area.
The temporary custody order and restraining order remain in place until the court hearing on June 4, 2025, when a judge will make further determinations.
