Recent days have seen heightened security concerns at the Mumbai residence of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, with two separate incidents of trespassing leading to arrests. The incidents occurred at Galaxy Apartments, Khan's home in Bandra, raising questions about the effectiveness of the actor's security, which was already significantly increased following threats and an attack last year.
The first incident occurred on May 20th, when a 23-year-old man identified as Jitendra Kumar Singh from Chhattisgarh, attempted to enter the premises. According to reports, Singh initially appeared at the apartment complex around 9:45 AM, claiming to be a fan and expressing his desire to meet the actor. When security personnel denied him entry, he allegedly reacted by smashing his mobile phone on the ground in anger. Later that same day, around 7:15 PM, Singh returned and attempted to gain access by using a vehicle belonging to a resident of the building. He reportedly blocked the resident's car and tried to run towards the building but was stopped by police stationed at the gate and subsequently handed over to the Bandra police. During interrogation, Singh admitted that he was trying to hide from the police because they were not allowing him to meet Khan. He has since been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police clarified that Singh was intercepted before he could reach the actor's actual residence.
The second incident took place on May 22nd, when a woman was arrested for attempting to trespass into Galaxy Apartments. Details surrounding her identity and motives are still under investigation. Mumbai Police are currently questioning the woman to determine why she was trying to gain unauthorized access to Khan's home.
These security breaches have sparked serious concerns, especially considering the existing threats against Salman Khan. In April 2024, gunshots were fired outside Galaxy Apartments, an attack allegedly orchestrated by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, with Anmol Bishnoi, the gangster's brother, claiming responsibility via a social media post. Following the shooting, Khan's security was upgraded to Y+ category. The feud between Khan and the Bishnoi gang stems from the 1998 Blackbuck poaching case, as the Bishnoi community considers the animal sacred. In July of last year, Salman stated that he heard a noise resembling a firecracker before being informed by his police bodyguard that two individuals on a motorcycle had fired at his apartment balcony.
In addition to the shooting, Salman Khan has received numerous death threats over the years. Earlier this year, a threat was delivered via a WhatsApp message to Mumbai's Transport Department, warning of an assassination attempt involving explosives. These recurring threats and security breaches highlight the ongoing risks faced by the actor and his family.
Authorities are currently investigating both trespassing incidents and verifying the identities and origins of those involved. It remains to be seen what further measures will be taken to reinforce security at Galaxy Apartments and ensure the safety of Salman Khan, who has been a target for some time. The repeated attempts to breach his security underscore the need for constant vigilance and robust security protocols.
