Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Gujarat on May 26th and 27th, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for numerous development projects with a total value of Rs 53,414 crore. The two-day visit will include stops in Dahod, Bhuj, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad.
On May 26th, the Prime Minister will be in Kutch, where he will inaugurate or lay the foundation stone of 33 developmental projects worth Rs 53,414 crore. These projects span across various districts, including Kutch, Morbi, Jamnagar, Amreli, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Ahmedabad, Tapi, and Mahisagar, indicating a broad regional impact. In Bhuj, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the development works completed under the Mata no Madh Master Plan at Ashapura Dham, a significant pilgrimage site for devotees across Gujarat. The Gujarat Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board implemented this plan with an investment of Rs 32.71 crore to renovate and redevelop the Ashapura Dham complex in Lakhpat taluka. The renovated complex now includes enhanced facilities for devotees, such as restored temples (Khatla Bhavani Temple and Chachar Kund), a beautified Rupray Lake, an entrance plaza, parking facilities, drinking water points, restrooms, and seating arrangements.
In Dahod, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Locomotive Manufacturing Shop at the Rolling Stock Workshop, a project by the Railway Ministry costing Rs 21,405 crore. He will also dedicate the first 9000 HP locomotive engine, manufactured under the 'Make in India' initiative, to the nation. Railway projects worth Rs 2,287 crore will also be inaugurated, including the doubling of the Anand-Godhra, Mehsana-Palanpur, and Rajkot-Hadmatiya railway lines, the electrification of the 107 km Sabarmati-Botad railway line, and the gauge conversion of the Kalol-Kadi-Katosan railway line. This brings the total value of railway-related works to Rs 23,692 crore. The railway production unit in Dahod is expected to generate employment for 10,000 people and stimulate the local economy. The locomotive engine produced here will be capable of hauling 4,600 tonnes of cargo, with a production target of approximately 1,200 engines over the next decade.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister will inaugurate four Juth Sudharna Pani Purvatha Yojanas worth Rs 181 crore, aimed at providing clean drinking water to residents of Mahisagar and Dahod. These schemes will benefit 193 villages and one town, supplying clean drinking water at a rate of 100 liters per capita per day (LPCD) to a population of 4.62 lakh. Among these, the Namnar Sudharna Juth Pani Purvatha Yojana, constructed by the Gujarat Water Supply Board at an estimated cost of Rs 49 crore, will supply clean drinking water to 39 villages. PM Modi will also inaugurate development works worth Rs 233 crore for public amenities and public welfare, including the Municipal Building and Tribal Museum in Dahod under the Dahod Smart City project, along with works worth Rs 53 crore for police housing.
In Vadodara district, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the four-lane conversion of Savli-Timba road, widening of Kayavarohan-Sadhali road, Jarod-Samlaya road and a new bridge on Padmala-Ranoli road worth a total of Rs 581 crore.
Earlier in the week, on May 26th, in Bhuj, Kutch, the Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for 31 projects worth ₹52,953 crore. Of these, 17 projects worth ₹2,292 crore will be inaugurated, while foundation stones will be laid for 14 projects worth ₹50,661 crore. The inaugurated projects include seven from the Energy and Petrochemical Department, such as the 220/66 KV Babarjar substation and the 132/66 KV Kansumra substation in Jamnagar, a 210 MW solar PV project on government wasteland in Babarjar, a 66 KV HTLS transmission line across Amreli, Junagadh, and Gir Somnath, and solar PV projects in Morbi and Kutch. Additionally, the Roads and Housing Department will inaugurate roads in Kutch, and the Deendayal Port Authority will inaugurate several projects, including an Oil Jetty, storage godown, cargo berth connecting road, EXIM cargo storage area expansion, and residential quarters.
The foundation stones to be laid include an 800 KV High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) line from R.E. Park, Khawda to Nagpur, a 765 kV transmission line from Khawda to Vataman and New Navsari, substations in Mewasa (Kutch) and Dholera (Ahmedabad), an Ultra Super Critical Thermal Power Plant at Tapi-Ukai, remodeling of a coal handling plant at Ukai, and a hydro plant at Kadana, Mahisagar.
