In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, which shook the nation on April 22nd, India responded decisively with Operation Sindoor, a military action that Prime Minister Modi has hailed as a demonstration of India's strength and resolve against terrorism. Speaking at rallies and in his monthly address to the nation, "Mann Ki Baat," the Prime Minister emphasized that this operation was not just a military endeavor, but a clear message to terrorists and their patrons, showcasing a transforming India.
Following the Pahalgam attack, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent individuals, the Prime Minister asserted India's zero-tolerance stance on terrorism. He stated that India waited for 15 days, hoping that Pakistan would take action against the terrorists operating within its borders. However, when no steps were taken, the armed forces were given a free hand to execute Operation Sindoor. This operation involved precision strikes on at least nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). These camps were known to house headquarters of Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Muhammad, and Hizbul Mujahideen, among other terrorist organizations.
PM Modi highlighted that the entire operation was recorded on camera, ensuring that there would be no room for doubt or questioning of its legitimacy. This was a direct response to previous instances where opposition parties had demanded proof of the 2016 surgical strikes and the 2019 Balakot airstrikes. By providing visual evidence, the government aimed to eliminate any speculation and demonstrate the effectiveness of the operation.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Operation Sindoor not only dismantled terror infrastructure but also sent a strong message globally. He declared that those who inflict harm on India will face a similar response, and they will not be spared. He further added that the retaliation was so strong that their airbases are still in ICU. He praised the valor and bravery of the Indian forces, which he said forced Pakistan to wave the white flag. India had already communicated that its target was the terror infrastructure, and Pakistan only needed to stay quiet. However, since they made a mistake, they had to deal with the consequences.
PM Modi also took a swipe at Pakistan's approach to terrorism, contrasting it with India's commitment to tourism and peace. He said that India believes in tourism, but Pakistan thinks terrorism is tourism. He urged the people of Pakistan to come forward and rid their country of terrorism, emphasizing that the youth will have to take the lead in this effort.
In his "Mann Ki Baat" address, the Prime Minister lauded the "precision and accuracy" with which Indian forces attacked the terrorist infrastructure across the border. He also commended the "made in India" weapons, equipment, and technology that contributed to the mission's success, highlighting the spirit of "Aatmanirbhar Bharat" (self-reliant India). He urged people to prioritize products made in the country, viewing it as a participation in nation-building.
Operation Sindoor is viewed not only as a military achievement but also as a reflection of India's changing stance on national security. It symbolizes the country's determination to protect its citizens and interests, and its willingness to take decisive action against terrorism.
